Keeping my Edge
The marketing world is growing and changing so much every day. There are new trends to stay on top of, channels that are IN and channels that are definitely out.
Sometimes I feel a touch of burnout when someone asks me questions like, “What do you think of ChatGDP?” or, “Should I pay for Meta Verified?” Maybe it’s just a Friday afternoon and I’m looking forward to a restful weekend.
It’s my job to stay on top of trends and advise my clients on which ones to chase and which to let go of.
My solution to this slight burnout that I’ve been feeling is to invest 2-3 hours/week minimum into my education. I carve out time during the workday to listen to a podcast, attend a training, or view a webinar with a digital course sales pitch.
Sidenote: does anyone attend webinars these days and NOT expect a sales pitch at the end? I’m curious.
This time that I set aside to work ON my skills and my business is the commitment I make to my clients to keep my edge sharp. And one I make to myself so that I feel more confident when working with small business clients.
Investing in a marketing consultant can feel like a risk to a small business owner, but I hope that if you choose to work with me that you know I have integrity, a client-focused commitment to serve you to the best of my ability, and a desire to continue learning.

PS. I don’t think it’s worth it to invest in Meta Verified…. yet.
