Recent spam to watch out for

In the last 48 hours I have received emails and texts from every.single.client asking some variation of the question, “Is this spam?”

That has become my inspiration for this blog post.

Good thing I have been collecting screenshots of spam over the last several months…

After viewing the images, scroll down and I will teach you how I know each of these is spam so that you can protect yourself.

Here are the basics when it comes to what is spam vs. what isn’t.

  1. Is this the first time the sender is contacting you?

  2. Is it coming from a legitimate email address? Always click open to view the actual email address, not just the sender's NAME

  3. Is it clearly a new account, profile, or website?

  4. Are they asking for personal information?

  5. Does it sound like it was written by AI and not edited? (these are my personal fav)

  6. Do you feel threatened? Are they being aggressive?

All of those point toward spam.

If you delete or disregard and nothing happens - you’re in the clear!

If Wells Fargo truly needs to get ahold of you, they will. You will receive official form letters and maybe a call from a 1-800 number. You won’t receive a text or a Facebook message about it.

Trust your gut.

If you aren’t sure, send the post/screenshot/image to someone you trust. I have a lot of experience identifying even the trickiest of spam posts… sometimes they can *almost fool me - which is sayin’ something.

Be safe out there friends.

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you found this helpful!
